I am pleased to invite you to a conversation at the European Parliament dedicated to Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, and to its reflections on artificial intelligence and the future of our planet.
The meeting will take place on 14 October, from 12:30 to 13:30, at the European Parliament, Spinelli 3G2, in the presence of Mons. Paul Desmond Tighe, Secretary of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Culture and Education.
As Shadow Rapporteur for the Cloud and AI Development Act for the Socialists and Democrats, I believe this is also an important opportunity to reflect on the kind of technological development we want to promote in Europe: an AI that remains at the service of people, strengthens human dignity and autonomy, and contributes to the common good.
In this perspective, the message of the encyclical invites us to work towards an AI disarmed from the logic of domination and conflict, and instead oriented towards human flourishing, solidarity and the protection of our common future.
